BELONGING: Call for Film & Video Work
On a rolling basis, the Hudson Milliner Art Salon is seeking films and video artworks for our current exhibition: Belonging! The exhibition primarily deals with one’s sense of place, home, and living environment, especially as shaped by culture and upbringing. The ideal work will emphasize locality and/or posses a strong setting: specific details and locations should call back to lived experiences and cultures, offering glimpses into their roots.
Accepted works will be projected on a large screen in the gallery, adjacent to our traditional works. Short films are prioritized, but long-form films are also welcome. All accepted filmmakers, if interested, will receive the opportunity for a screening or artist talk with ~10 - 50 viewers. Filmmakers will receive a % of sales for any tickets or concessions sold at the event.
Anyone interested should send up to 5 works and a brief artist’s statement to hudsonmillinersubmissions@gmail.com. A $15 submission fee will be conferred in reply. We also encourage you to review our submission guidelines below.
Submission Window: June 14th - July 20th
Exhibition Ends: August 20th 2026
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
• Do not direct questions, concerns, or other communications to the submissions email. Instead, contact info@hudsonmillinerartsalon.com.
• Accepted works must be displayed for the full duration of the show. Notices of acceptance or rejection will be conferred within two weeks of the submission deadline. If a work is accepted, it will be displayed from the day accepted until the end of the show.
• Early submission is recommended for this call. The sooner a work is submitted and accepted, the sooner we can begin planning potential events. Being shown in an event is not required for being in the show, but is certainly recommended.
• Submissions must include an artist’s statement. There is no requirement for length or content: it can be three words, three sentences, three pages, etc. The gallery reserves the right to edit the statement and utilize it in any promotional material related to the artist.
