Belonging is an exhibition that deals with one’s sense of place, home, and living environment—especially as shaped by culture and upbringing.​

Right now, the world is constantly in flux. Visual changes erupt in tandem with social and political ones. When people migrate from one place to another, they bring pieces of their original culture with them, shaping the look and feel of their surroundings. The same occurs as a society’s dominant culture shapes its towns, cities, and landscapes.

Our featured works emphasize locality: specific details and settings link them to places, experiences, and cultures. In viewing these works, we invite viewers to consider the roots of all that they encounter. Painting, print, sculpture, and film are on display.
