NOW HIRING: Gallery Manager
Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
We’re looking for a creative, organized Gallery Manager to help run our gallery and events space. The position combines gallery operations, exhibition support, administrative support, communications, and creative production. This is an entry-level role.
The ideal candidate possesses an understanding of fine arts, culture, and/or associated spaces. Professional experience is a plus, but is not required. Motivated candidates will find plenty of opportunities for growth, including additional curatorial opportunities, artist-specific opportunities, and greater administrative authority.
The duties below represent a range of responsibilities typical of the role.
Duties
Manage day-to-day communications via social media, email, and in person when the gallery is open. Serve as a first point of contact for artists, visitors, and people interested in the space.
Manage artwork inventory and exhibition records. Handle transactions via Stripe in the event of a sale.
Send email blasts via Constant Contact.
Prepare graphic design content for social media and email using Canva, Adobe, or a tool of your choosing. Print design experience is a plus.
Update gallery websites on Squarespace; may occasionally edit affiliate website on Wordpress.
Aid in planning openings, exhibitions, and other events during an exhibition's runtime.
Help arrange and install paintings, prints, and sculptures for exhibitions.
Provide ad-hoc assistance for wedding rentals and affiliated hotel rentals across platforms, primarily Jurny, Airbnb, and Zola.
Schedule
The typical schedule for this role is Friday - Sunday, 12 - 6 p.m. with some flexibility. Those interested can take on additional hours during the week for exhibition prep or other busy periods.
This generally means 18 hours per week, with optional 20 - 25 hours per week or even 30 hours per week in the most exceptional situations.
Qualifications
At least 1 year of experience in an arts, cultural, administrative, creative, hospitality, or related setting preferred. Equivalent education, internships, volunteer experience, or transferable skills will qualify.
Proficiency with MS Office or Google Suite
Willing to help handle and install artwork weighing 10–40 lbs., with assistance as needed.
Proficiency in some form of photo editing and graphic design software (ideally Adobe Suite, equivalent software is fine.)
Working knowledge of web design
Comfortable learning new software and exploring new platforms.
Current students must be capable of working Friday - Sunday throughout the year, with flexibility for exams, move-outs, etc.
Marketing, event/party planning, art handling, or social media experience a plus.
Interested candidates may apply via Indeed, LinkedIn, or directly via email to info@hudsonmillinerartsalon.com. Email applications must include resume.
We encourage applicants to send a brief note about their interest in this role and (non-professional) background. Tell us about your creations and personal projects. If you have a niche interest you'd like to share, great: we'd love to see it.
